The Grant Agency of Masaryk University held its annual conference in the Augustinian Abbey last Wednesday, 30 November. It included, for the third time, the MUNI Scientist Award ceremony.
Czech President Miloš Zeman has signed appointment decrees for new professors nominated by the scientific and artistic councils of Czech universities. Seven of them are connected with Masaryk University.
Twenty years after opening the Faculty of Arts central library won an award from the Czech Chamber of Architects for qualitative contribution to society. The award makes it one of ten best buildings in the Czech Republic in terms of quality.
Last Sunday the 2022 FIFA World Cup started, as did a special series of the famous Czech Television quiz show AZ-kvíz. The programme will pair Masaryk University students against celebrities and Czech Television personalities. Part of the winnings from the famous “ATM” will be donated to the volunteer centre MUNI HELPS.
Inga Palsson studied psychology in Montreal, but she was not very keen on it, so she was wondering about going to study in Europe. In the end, she chose the English Language and Literature programme at MU, where she could study literature and linguistics at the same time, which she found very interesting.

American musicologist Michael Beckerman and British transport economist Christopher Alfred Nash – two names who have joined the pantheon of holders of honorary doctorates awarded by Masaryk University.
The honorary title of doctor honoris causa of Masaryk University was awarded to respected musicologist Michael Beckerman who has devoted a significant part of his professional career to Czech music.
