Rhymed German translation of the Old Czech chronicle of so called Dalimil in the context of the Czech, Latin and German textual tradition – linguistic, literary and historical analysis; edition and commentary The Topic The so called German Chronicle from Bohemia – the rhymed German translation of the Old Czech chronicle of so called Dalimil from the beginning of the 14th century – is one of the most remarkable German texts originating in Bohemia in the 14th century. Unlike the Czech original being always discussed and studied by the scholars as one of the most important work of the early Czech literature, the German version was rather ignored and considered marginal and unimportant. The objective of the presented project is the edition and commentary of this source in the context of the relevant versions, taking into account the corresponding fields of language, literature and history. The proposed edition should take into account the specificities of various disciplines concerned in context of the Czech as well as the international scholarship. E.G. critical apparatus will be formalized according to the common international terminology; furthermore the parallel German translation of the Old Czech text and the differential translation of topically distinct German passages into Czech as well as the bilingual Czech-German commentary with the English abstract are to be mentioned. The electronic version of the edition will improve the usability significantly, enabling the fulltext search, providing statistical overviews, parallel displaying of the digitized facsimile etc. |
