The project is drawn on the finding that the role of parents in education has not so far been comprehensively explored in the Czech Republic even though, since the 1980s, it has been a hot topic in other countries. We focus on the rapidly developing field of special education. Czech special education facilities have achieved different results in searching for the new way of developing the relationship with parents. We will try to identify them in our project. Thanks to the connection with the supporting project, the differences and similarities in the status of parents in primary and special schools (schools providing special education) will be identified. We will try to present models motivating the teachers of primary schools, whose work is to a growing extent influenced by extending the main educational stream even on the handicapped students.
